Charity makes no decrease in property….an Arabian Proverb. Indeed  Gita too says same thing.  ‘Desire is the root cause of all misseries’ said Buddha  A rich man cannot enter kingdom of heaven while camel enter an eye of a needle, how true they are all?

In Gita ch.VI.11, in terms of sloka 10, ‘External vigilance over body are mixed Essential’,

‘Let  the yogin try constantly to concentrate his mind  (on Supreme Self)  remaining  in ‘solitude’ and alone, self controlled, free from ‘desires’  (Gautam Buddha’s tenet that ‘Desire is the sole cause of all miseries’) and so too (longing for) possessions’ ( duly reflected by Jesus Christ…(‘We must not become slave to things (finite)(destroyable) to gain the ‘glad freedom  of Spirit.’

Jesus Christ (correctly felt .. To the rich man who said  that he had kept  all the Commandments, why because he answered… ‘Yet lackest thou  one thing (Mr.Rich Man! ): sell  all that  thou   hast  and distribute  unto the poor, and thou shalt  have  treasure  in heaven’,

When Jesus saw  that the rich  man very SORROWFUL. he said, ‘How  hardly  shall they (rich man) that  have riches  enter  into the Kingdom  of God.

For it is easier  for camel  to go through  a ‘needle’s eye’, than  for the Rich Man  to enter  into  the Kingdom of God (heaven)’ (st. Luke xvii,18-23) quoted by Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, in his ,The Bhagavatgita pg.228);

In this stride,  in sloka 11, Lord Krishna says, ‘He should  set  in a clean  place his firm seat, neither  too high  nor too low, covered  with sacred  grass (reed), a dear skin, and a cloth (cotton) (a combine of skin and cotton, each nutralizes the other’s undesirable qualities),one over the other…

‘sucau  dese pratisthapya’

natyuccachritam nattiicam

             cailajinakusottaram’ ( roman script sanskrit )

( sloka. 12)

‘There  taking his place  on the seat , that making in his mind   one-pointed and controlling  his thought  and sense  , let be him practise  yoga  for  the purification of the soul’’

in sanskrit rendering…

‘tatratikagram  manah krtva

    yatacittendriya kriyah

upavisyasane yunjyad

Here Yoga means …’dyana yoga,(meditation).

To realize truth, man   must be delivered  from ‘clutches of practical  interests (finite factor)(‘maya’ = delusion) that  are ‘bound up’ with our Exterior  and Material  life’.

The chief condition  is the disciplined ‘dis-interested-ness’.

We  must develop  the ‘Power’  to (foresee) see things  as a free  ‘un-distorted intelligence’ would see them.

For  this, we must  get  ‘ourselves’ out of the way(route).

it was quoted of Pythagorus (a Greek mathematical philosopher)  when questioned , ‘why  he called  himself a philosopher, he gave  the following story.

He compared  ‘human life’  with the great festival at ‘Olympia’, where  all the world comes together  in a ‘motley crowd’.

Some  are  there ‘to do’ business at the fair and enjoy themseles; others  wish to ‘win’ the wreath  in the contest; and some others are MERELY  spectators; and these  Last Kind  are the ‘philosophers’.

They keep  themselves free  from the ‘Urgencies’ of immediate necessities.

Pythagorus proves he is like one of those mere ‘spectators’; and hence he is a philosopher, he declared.

Sankara (charya) points  out , that the ‘essential qualifications’ of a ‘Seeker’ of Wisdom  are a capacity   ‘to discriminate’ (like pythagorous) between  the ‘Eternal’ and the ‘Non – Eternal’ – ‘detachment  from the ‘Enjoyment’ of fruits  of ‘action’ (like if a rich person gives away whatever he has to the poor under donations or charity, he can enter ‘Kingdom of heaven’ as  Jesus described, ‘ a camel can enter the eye of a needle, a qualification of detachment),  ‘terrestial or  celestial’ :

– ‘Self control  and an ardent desire ‘ for ‘Spiritual Freedom’. ( sanskrit quote:

‘ nityanityavastu-viveka, ithamutra-phala-bhogviragah, samadisadhana  sampat, mumuksutvam.’)

For Plato,  the ‘aim’  of all Knowledge,  is to raise us to the ‘contemplation’ of the idea of Good, the source alike of being  and knowing , and the IDEAL philospher is one  whose goal , at the end of a life  lived to the full, is always  a life of a quiet , of indrawn stillness, of solitude, and aloofness, in which the world  forgetting , by  the world forgot, he finds  his heaven in   lonely  contemplation of the “good”

. That  and  that  alone is real life.

‘Blessed are  the pure  in heart’ for they  shall see the God in kingdom of Heaven.

This ‘purification’  of the heart ,   ‘cittasuddhi’   (sanskrit) , is a  matter of discipline.

Plotinus  another philosopher  tells  us that  ‘Wisdom’  is the condition in  a being ‘at rest’.

Patanjali points out that the posture  should  be steady  and ‘pleasing’  so as to aid  concentration.

A right posture  gives ‘serenity’  of body .

The  body must be kept ‘clean’ if a living  image of God is to be installed in it.

so in sloka 13 , Lord asks Arjun to hold the body, head and neck, erect and still, looking  fixedly  at the tip of his Nose (when in meditation), without  looking  around (without  allowing eyes to wander ).

In sloka 14…Lord says ..’Serene and fearless, firm, in the vow  of celebacy subdued mind, let him sit, harmonized, his mind  turned to Me (in one’s own consciousness) alone…

The qualities demanded  for the practice  of Yoga  may be compared  with the  three Evanglical  counsels…

‘of Poverty,  chastity and Obedience’

by which  we overcome the world of flesh, and the ‘devil’ (evils).

If done so,  you could be very well detached of anything,

-that only gives you the power of giving away anything you have to others that way you unload  your burdens of all kinds of properties, and you would feel light and emancipated from worldly needs of anything.

The negative (negation) process of ‘all thoughts’ to a  ‘standstill’  has for its positive side , concentration on the ‘Self’, ‘Isavara  pranidhana’  (sanskrit) is recognized  way  in Yoga Discipline.

When Mind becomes ‘Still’, ,

Mind becomes vacant, for it is fixed  on Supreme  ‘maccitah matprah’ (sanskrit).

Only the single -visioned

-see the ‘Real’.Spiritual  life  is not ‘prayer’ or ‘pettition’.

It is  profound devoutness, silent meditation, the opening  of the ‘Consciousness’ (in you) to the INNERMOST  depths  of the soul , which connect,  the individual,  self directly with the Divine Principle ,

Those who learn  this Árt’  do not require any EXTERNAL  assistance (at all), and  ‘(external) belief in dogma or participation in ritual’.

They  acquire  the çreative  vision since  they combine  absorption with detachment .

They ´act´ in the world – (natana-meda) (play theatre) – , but the ṕassionless tranquility´  of the spirit  remains  undisturbed.

They are compared to  the ´padma´, (Lotus) on the Lake, which is´not ruffled´ or unruffled by the tide.

Thus Lord says in sloka 15, ..

´the Yogin of subdued mind , ever  keeping  himself  thus harmonized, attains peace – the Supreme nirvana (emancipation) from all desires that abides Me(Krishna Consciousness).

Hindu tradition looks upon Ahalya, Sita, Mandodari,  Draupa(ti)di, and Tara, as Models of chastity,  mahapativrata (greatest chaste women) ,

They  are  also called ´ṕanchamahakanya´ (five great women)

Thomas Hardy  asks  us to look  upon ´Tess´ (these) as Pure women.

-’Chastity is a condition of Mind´.

in sloka 16,

Verily ´Yoga´ is not for those who eat ´too much´,  or ´ábstains´ from too much eating .

It is not for him , Oh Arjuna, who sleeps too much or keeps awake ´too much´.

We must be free from (all kinds of) ánimal cravings,( as we are humans).

-We must  ´ávoid´ all ´Écesses´ in all things.

This is comparable with  the ´Ḿiddle path´ followed by Buddhists., the golden mean( concept) of Aristotle.

Lord Krishna in sanskrit says like this:

´nityasnatastu yogo´ sti

na  caikantamas´natah

na  catisvapnasilsya

jagato naiva  carjuna/

´For the man who is ´temparate´,  in food and recreation, who is restrained in his actions , whose sleep and walking are regulated , there ensures discipline =(yoga) which kills /  destroys sorrow´. He would have no problems.

Lord Krishna in sanskrit says so like …

yuktacestasya karmasu

yogo bhavati duhkhaya/´

Therefore, every one need understand that it is not ´complete ábstinence´, from action; but restraint  in action;  that Lord Krishna advices.

When the ´Ego´  is established in self ,  it lives in a ´transcendant´ and universal consciousness and acts  from that  çentre.

When the disciplined mind  is established  in the self alone, liberated from all desires, then  is he said  harmonized (in yoga)= highest discipline.,

You need to be in complete effacement of the Ego that is ésssential for the Vision of Truth.

Every taint  of individuality  should disappear, if truth is to be known.

There should  be an elimination of all of our  – Ṕrejidices and Idiosyncracies´;

Lord Krishna as a supreme Teacher (Guru)  gives the  Art of Living ṕ

Procedure Code  (LPC of time immemorial).

By this  code (like your Law and Order Procedure codes –  Cr.P.C or C.P.C in India or any where under Common laws) alone, the Seeker (could self discipline himself)   –  can experience  of the Essential Self ( by Discipline called Yoga, as advocated by Gita ) .

In the Ordinary Experiece, of the Outer or the Inner World;

-the Self  in  the union with the Body  is immersed in phenomenal  multiplicity ; and remains  veiled  because of it.

We should  first of all  ´Émpty´  the Soul  of every  Specific Operation, rid  it of every  image of  every particular  representation;

of every  distinct  operation of Mind;

– is vital to give vitality of your life, after all life without mind there can never be life at all..

This  is negative process…(self denial process ).

It may be  thought,  that  every particular  representation  of Mind we need to be draining from Consciousness of every image;

– ‘we end in a  ṕure and simple nothingness.’

The Guru in Krishna makes out  that the ´Negative Process´  is adopted to ápprehend, the Pure Self, to achieve  the Beatific Vision.

The ´Silence´ is made Perfect and the Void  is Consummated through the ápparently  ‘negative’;  but intensely  vital mystical (experience of) contemplation , involving  a tension  of the ´forces´ (of energies) of the Soul.

It is a divine experience that transcends  áll’ knowledge’.

For the Self  is not an object (at all ) expressible,  in a concept;  or presentable to Mind as an Object.

That Object is inexpressible subjectivity

If one appreciates, Life becomes a worth living phenomenon.

Life becomes like a lamp in a windless place ‘flickerath not’ – sublime situation – to such is likeneded the Yogi (highly disciplined person) that is what Lord Krishna in his Krishna consciousness expects:

        – every one human to be.

So the thought of yogi is of subdued  thought, that yogi practices in union with Self (or Disciplined Self himself).

If you are so well ‘self disciplined’, Arab proverb becomes a reality —

-‘çharity makes no decrease in your property.’

In Sanskrit language, a classical language , ‘Charity’ is called as ‘Dharma’ where also Dharma is a rule of law too, as every king = ‘Raja’ must also have Dharmic institutions in the State mandatorily.

That way Charity institutions were found in ancient Greece, so too in ancient Rome too.

It is said, one who makes charity never looked for any  ‘return’ of any kind, is the doctrine of charity .

If Dharma is not a great virtuous one why one would do indulge in charities, if it reduces his wealth is a pertinent question is it not?

Further more why kings and emperors indulged in charities right from time immemorial, a question would arise, after all every kingdom lived on the bases of taxes people paid, when so how Kings or emperors could indulge in charitable institutions  and endowments,if charity is not worthy idea.

In fact even today  charity is sought after by every organisation, clearly indicates ‘charity never decreases one’s property but charity only helps crimes to dwindle drastically any where and every where.

By charity you develop Fellowship among people, a great virtue. Besides you feel great if you give charitable donation to any.

In fact every donor – man who makes charity  – feels elated and donation boosts his spirit that there is a donee to accept .

In Hindu Culture, ‘Athithi Devo Bhava’ means:

-In those days,  every family every day wait for  anyone  to visit their house for food before family takes its dinner;

every day meaning – ‘you shall share your food with some who is a ‘have no’t or ‘poor person’ before you eat your own food.

Such elementary approaches of charity really made the country a ‘Rama Rajya’, meaning that in such a environ there would be no enmity between people,;

as every one shares what ever it/he has with it, that way life is proved to be worth living is the ‘doctrine of Rama Rajyam’, where, then it so was existing.

Same is beautifully reflected in the Arabian proverb.

All Charities indeed born out of one’s own selfishness for a peaceful life;

and living as such,  as none would like to usurp other’s wealth or property, as such, since that ‘such usurping thought’ would never enter his mind nor surface  in him at all, even among poor and needy;

for the poor and needy would think such a thought ‘to usurp other’s weath or property , is a ‘serious sin’, he would face punishment on the day of God’s judgement day, reckoning.

Therfore, charity is institutionalized as such.

When charity dwindled as the greed took over man, robberies , thefts, stealings got surfaced all over.

in England, the concept of ‘Rob the Peter, pay the Paul’ came into being.

The doctrinal principle is to mean :

– if you hold anything more than your bare requirement you would have to face robberies, thefts and the like, as you deprive others their needy things as you would simply hoard for yourselves, after all things are always scarce.

Originally honorable Kings’ courts never punished a robber initially whence once reported immediately without  ‘audi alteram partem principle ;

-’that way Natural Justice came into being’ as such.

If the robber tells the honourable court that he stole or robbed anything  like food, or bare minimum needs of any man, which he suffered, that was considered as ‘just and reasonable’, unlike today’s concept of any robbery is punished with man is delivered with punishmentsthen and there;

as the statutes are ‘unreasonably harsh’ is  made, \

-that kind of statutes only promote more and more robberies, thefts, ect.

Today’s principles of law though subject to judicial review whether the ‘statute’ itself is rightly handed out or not being decided under Natural justice principles, generally, the powerful just mishandle administration of laws, owing to that all bad things do happen is convincingly settled by doctrine of charity or donation.

The whole principle centers around on:

‘thou shall have what is barely required, thou shalln’t hoard anything’  .

God bestowed on man everything bare minimum to live long, in peace and amity.

What is more than your need or bare requirement you shall ‘share’ with fellow beings, for peaceful co-existence.

God is angry on man if he deprives fellow human being,

so He drove away   ‘Adam and Eve’ from Garden of Eden where everything is plentiful but one shall not grab everything.

When Saturn influenced  through the Fruit of Knowledge concept –  he polluted the mind  of Man.

Polluting the mind is the imminent fall of  Man ;

this warns  none should fall a prey to some  foul ideas ‘of shame’ as such; when if you do not care wrong things however beneficial to you, l nothing untoward would happen or would have taken place, is,  the  sublime thought.

Even today scantily dressed persons in Adi vasis are seen in mountainous areas, do they run away from thier own livings?

Absolutely Not As long as you do not have  any poluted thought in you, you are safe.

Governments talk and talk continuously,

had they really given adequate dress to the Adivasis or whether their lands are still safe?

when these so called governments intrude their living, under so called facades of ‘developments’ the government push these Adivasis to wall of ignominous life, under so called PAPs, project affected people or like that, even today in

india in several States in the indian federation called, indian Union.

In Gita ch.13.7 it is stated, Humility (absence of pride), integrity (absence of  deceipt), non violence, patience, uprightness, service of  the teacher, purity (of body and mind), steadfastness and self contrrol is a part of (Gyana) knowledge.

Do we see such knowledge is prevailing with your law makers called so called legislators whom you elected them to govern you?

What it reflects?

 Indeed it only reflects you;  as you only elected such representatives to look after your interests….! Does it speak great of you?

In Gita ch.13.8, it is stated, indifference  to the objects  of sense, self-effacement and the perception of  the evil of birth, death , old age, saickness and pain being at their peak in you, so like you in the society, and in the rulers result in multiplication of the similar qualities –

contribute to unendurable pains….old age and infirmity is the knowledge you need to evaluate ;

if you did so, then you get further Gyana (knowledge);

so long as you are not able to realize,

you fall as a prey to  attachment and

– clinging to son, wiife, home and the like  and  a constant relevant mindedness to all things;

and other cinnected happenings which bind you,

if then how would you consider losing those finite factors of facts that blind ones;

– is the fact Lord Krishna told Arjuna…’attachments are always lead you to misery’, Lord Krishna revealed under real knowledge.

Lord Krishna told his close disciple in Arjuna;

  • if you could,  into ‘non attachment’, and if you you ‘do not feel’,

the absence of your son(s), wife(ves), home(s) and the like  and a constant  equal mindedness to all ‘desirables’ and undesirable happenings,

you could get emancipation of links – bandhas (connections) you could be emancipated from all these evils Lord Krishna reiterated;

if so you are Gyani (knowledgeable ) yogi;

but you might not, so you need to be contented with this existence and need to accept the attendant problems of living,

      -without any quarrel, that is real knowledge .

In sloka  10,  you are asked ‘unswerving devotion to Me ( Lord Krishna) (Krishna Consciousness) with, whole hearted  discipline;

-‘ do resort to solitary places. dislike  for a crowd of people’. he said.

In sllok 11,

‘Constancy in the knowlede of the Spirit,

– insight into the end of knowledge of truth  – and this is declared to be genuine true knowledge ;

and all that is different  from it;

is  ‘Non-Knowledge’ – No knowledge at all’ declared Lord Krishna.

It should be clear   from this list of qualities, that gyana (jnana) or knowledge includes,

 the practise of moral virtues.

Mere   theoretifcal (knowledge) learning will not do. …….

‘nayamtma pravacanena labhyo,na medhaya,na bahuna srutena. Katha’ (Upanishad., II ,22 Mundaka Up, III ,2-3)

By the development of moral qualities the ‘light’ ‘of the ever changeless  Self’  witnessing all but attached  to none  is discriminated from passing  forms and is no more  confused with them.

( sloka. 12)     (Lord Krishna)

‘I  describe  that which  is to be

known  and by  knowing   which life  eternal  is gained. If it is the Supreme Brahman who is beggingless and who is said  to be  neither Existent nor non-existent’. (unknowable is in fact)

‘anadimat  param = begingless Supreme. S (Sankara)

‘anadi matparem ‘= beginningless, ruled by R (     Ramanuja)

It  is  eternal , liffted  above all empirical  oppositions  of existence and non -exxxistence, beginning and end, and if we realize ,It, birth and death happen  to be mere ‘outward’ events  which do not touch  the ‘eternity of the SELF’.

When so  you are, why are you  used to hoard, and involved in your indulgences,  you would indulge in such indulgences and laziness is indeed a Himalayan defectives that are the himayan  facts of your life, said Lord Krishna, a great revelation in Gita..

You could give away your own body by death, death indeed is a ‘non existent fact’; and  as such,  such an event when  it is  immaterial,  why  are you so much attached to ‘mundane ‘(finite)  objects is the giant big  Question? you need to respond.

Supreme has the two aspects – the one of transcendence and detachment; and the other of  immanence  in each particular union with the non-self.

It is described in several paradoxes  –

  • He is without and within, unmoving, and moving, far away and near, undivided  and yet divided…Mahabharatha  says ‘that when the self  is associated  with the  modes  of nature, it is called ‘ ksetrajna’ (micro perception); when it is released  from these  it is called , ‘ paramatman’  or the Supreme self’ (macro perception).

You hoard wealth or properties at the cost of others (yea, at your own cost!), just to fend your future children, grand children or great grand children means you think thry cannot fend their lives , thus you  throw them, the new future incoming generations, ( indeed  non existent facts!);

But you throw them  in ‘indulgences ‘ and ‘laziness based pursuits’,

You even do not even  work your basic profession (karma), – say as a farmer no longer you  work on farms with necessary to be basic zeal, along with other farm workers;

You used to work with them  earlier, but you are enveloped by alterego, after some so called positions(some blinds or curtains on you);

and thus you think it is below your imaginary station dimention, to work on your farms  as farmer you did earlier.

If that happens, sooner or later you are bound to forget the techniques of farming, like a person suffering amnesia which would make living itself difficult, without food that way you need to  determine your own end;

no more progenitors, after all cosmos is one that works on certain rules.

Thus you are warned of your own disutility by very nature of taking bribes to ensure greater lives for your kins, kids and the new generation, what a futily, you seem not realize:

if you fall a prey to indulgences, laziness;

after all daily yogic discipline  practices only keep you in touch with the work ethic that is callled Karma.

Me = Lord Krishna = Krishi = efforts called ‘Karma’ – daily practices of efforts… that way He is an embodiment of functionalism, that  has to be performed as  a part of daily living exercices by every one ;

if one has to be on this earth as a ‘being’, that is,  what is his attribute?

when so how could you spare your children, grand children ect to be indulging in all kinds of useless indulgences;

that would make them forget their basic ‘pursuits’ of professions of their family; you have to just to live, you need to follow ever cyclically; he needs to tell, – man! call him ‘eh manava’ mend your ways!

Therefore, in sloka 55, in chapter IX ,,,

‘He who does  work for (on behalf of)  Me, he who looks upon Me (work)  as his goal , he who worships Me,  is always ‘free from attachment’ – who is free from enmity to all creatures (creations), therefore, he goes  to Me,= attains Me salvation bliss, (finally)!

This is the essence of Bakthi (see ch. XII ,13)…the true devotee….

He who has no ‘ill-will’  to any being , who is bound to be friedly  and compassionate , free from  egotism, and self -sense, even mindedness in pain and pleasure alike, and patient.’ then he is ‘a true devotee to worldy truth’;

and he is ‘disciplined in his  life’, like a yogi = disciplined diciplinarian.

This verse  is the  ‘sum and substance’  of the whole  teaching of Gita –

(Gitasistraya sarabhuto’rthah).

WE must  carry  out ‘our duties’ very sincerely; –  ‘directing  the spirit (energy)’ to God;

and with detachment, ‘ perpetually  from all interest’,  in the ‘ things’ (myopic things)  of the world; and  free from ( all) ‘enmity’  towards any living being .

Whatever be  our vocation, and character , ‘whether we  are  Creative thinkers, or Contemplative poets  or humble men and women with no special gifts’;

if we  possess the one great gift  of the ‘Love of God’ , we become in God’s hands as God’s tools, that channels   His Love  and purpose’.

When  this vast  world  of ‘living spirits’  becomes attuned  to God and exists  only to do  His Will – the purpose of Man is achieved.

The Gita does not end  atter the tremendous  experience  of  the ‘Celestial  Vision’.

The great secret  of the transcendental  ‘Atman’, the souce of  all , that is  and yet.  itself is unmoved  and for ever  is seen.

The Supreme  is the  background  for the never ending  procession  of ‘finite’ things (things nature of getting destroyed time and again).

Arjuna ( another meaning) = conqueror,  has seen  this TRUTH ;

but he has to live  in this life like ( this -phenomenon )( it)  (live this life) by transmuting  his  whole nature  into the willing  acceptance  of ‘the Divine’ .

A fleeting  vision , however ,  vivid  and  and permanent  in its effects  may be , is not  Complete  attainment.

The  search  for ‘abiding  reality’, the quest  of final  truth  cannot end  – in emotional  satisfaction or  fitful  experience.

‘iti…. visvarupadarsanayogo  namaikadaso ‘ dhyayah’ (Sanskrit)

But see even First president of United States of America  Mr. George Washington used to work for ‘some hours’ on his farms with his farm labor;

that way tthis American showed the way;

like Ancient Indian Kings;

but how many Indians do toda;

once they become some so called ‘politicians’?

So called ‘Indian politicians’ politicians as a class of persons,  just say that they follow American some ways;

but not really follow what Americans’ revered even today!

You can say what kind of new genenre of indian politicians are today.

Most are some indulgent kind , indulging in all kinds of indulgencies, all lazy pursuits;

why the man on the street shalln’t hate them in India?

In fact, none likes any politician or any  rich and wealthy beleiving in hoarding wealth without ‘share -i- table’ disposition, in India;

just because they all beleive in hoarding, instead of being charitable  in disposition, like ordinary American on to top American politician.

As such, new fangled perceptions of ‘new station in life’ is indeed a worst corruption of mind of Man, after all you came on earth nothing so too you go with nothing is a great truth, you could never forget, asfter all you are a finite destroyable just some body mass, forget not!.(ends)
